D2 Survivors Barbarian

Three written guides told me to start here. The leaderboard told me the Normal median is 31:57, the fastest of the seven. I am keeping both, and I am not turning the 1.9 percent signature into the only build.

Why starter notes pick this class

Trees: Combat Skills, Combat Masteries, Warcries. Client start: strength 30, dexterity 20, vitality 25, energy 10, hinting strength and vitality. Double Swing is the skill the starter notes name for the first card.

29,659 runs (14.2 percent), 9,223 players, peak Terror 100, median level 92. Normal median 31:57 is the fastest. Hell median 32:58 is second, behind Paladin at 32:40.

Frenzy, Whirlwind, and evolved attacks

Frenzy 89.9 percent, Whirlwind 89.8, Battle Cry 82.3, Battle Command 68.3, War Cry 67.5. Lacerator at 59.5 percent is a name in the skill list. Build 20261026.1 describes its returning axes. That does not establish an equipment-use rate for the Diablo II weapon of the same name. Passives: Increased Speed 91.3, Vitality 89.0, Find Item 74.7. The common signature is 1.9 percent (571 runs, peak 91) and mixes those warcries with Double Swing, Frenzy, and Whirlwind.

Gear: Arreat's Face 21.5, Mara's 20.8, Raven Frost 19.2. Move while Frenzy or Whirlwind is running. Standing still is the mistake the starter notes repeat.

Starter plan and late-game direction

The independent beginner guides suggest Double Swing. Concentrate early picks on that attack and survival, keep moving, and add support rather than collecting unrelated damage skills. This is a guide recommendation; the run statistics do not prove a winning first card.

Use Frenzy or Whirlwind as the core you can support, then consider Battle Cry and Battle Command. Compare upgrades and evolutions before committing to another attack; item rolls and available cards change the decision.

The melee kit is readable for learning movement. Close combat also makes standing still risky, and the fastest submitted median is not a promise for a new character.

Can the first skill be changed?

The opening card offers a starter from each tree (official build 20261017.19, single source). There is no documented individual-card reroll. Akara offers a full re-draft; read the current cost and requirements rather than assuming the old cap. See endgame and items for the next decisions.

Questions

Is Barbarian the best first class?

Written guides say yes, because the kit is readable. The leaderboard's fastest Normal median agrees with the pace. It is not the highest Terror peak.

What does Lacerator mean on this list?

It is reported in the skill array; the changelog describes its returning axes. Do not reinterpret that percentage as weapon equipment usage. Frenzy and Whirlwind are near 90 percent.

What do I do with the first card?

The starter notes say Double Swing. You can rest it off the bar later or ask Akara for a full reset.
